A while ago, we recorded movie commentary tracks for a couple of titles that we enjoy very much. The Crow (1994) Starring, Brandon Lee and Directed by, Alex Proyas and Blade (1998) Starring, Wesley Snipes and Directed by, Stephen Norrington. The conversation about the commentary tracks came up because, Doug mentioned that this year marks the 30th Anniversary of the release of, The Crow. With that, we go over some of the details of each film and talk about the potential to do some other tracks for other films down the line.

Erik recently read the limited comic series, Girls by Jonathan and Joshua Luna, published by Image Comics between 2005 and 2007. The book is a story of the people of Pennystown, a community of 63 who are cut off from the rest of the world and attacked by a group of naked, flesh eating, egg-laying women, as well as other bizarre dangers. Erik gives a run down of the comic and gets, Doug's reaction to various story points.

In April of 2023, the WWE made a deal with Endeavour Group Holdings (owners of Zuffa, which holds the UFC). The deal would culminate in a new company, TKO Group Holdings a new public company majority-owned by Endeavor, with Vince McMahon serving as executive chairman of the new entity, and Nick Khan becoming president. The merger was completed on September 12, 2023. This marks the end of the "McMahon Era" and begins a new point in the history of the WWE and the world of Professional Wrestling.

With the new deal and owners in place for the WWE could a potential CM Punk return be in the cards? The summer season is coming to a close but the "Summer of Labor" is still in full effect. We touch upon the recent story about some shows attempting to resume production, in particular the, Drew Barrymore Show. (As of this recording, Drew Barrymore and other shows attempting to return to production have since reversed their decisions and are abiding by WGA and SAG/AFTRA guidelines for the current Hollywood Strike).

The United Auto Workers (UAW) have also decided to go on strike. This strike will affect the production of three major automobile makers in the United States: Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and Stellantis. This strike will take a different approach as the Union leaders implement a Stand Up Strike. The idea being to inflict ongoing disruption to production by calling on different regions to strike at different times. More on this as it develops.

We also talk about the news of a new reboot/remake of, The Crow (starring Bill Skarsgård and FKA twigs). Filming has apparently wrapped up about a year ago. The current Hollywood Strike leaves its release in limbo. We talk about the history of the franchise across different media and some of the actors involved in previous installments.

Whenever a performer in the world of Professional Wrestling passes away, it hits home for each of us in a different way. On this episode we talk about the passing of two very talented individuals in their own right.

Terry Funk had a career that spanned more than fifty years. He helped to shape the world of Pro wrestling throughout that time. Whether it was overseas in crazy death matches, or here state side, he loved wrestling and ultimately just wanted to have fun wrestling his friends.

Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) was an amazing performer. Formerly known as, Husky Harris, he re-tooled himself into one of the most memorable bad guys that the business has ever known as the leader of the cult-like Wyatt family. And again as, The Fiend. We'll never know what his full potential in the squared circle could have been as he was taken from us way too soon at the age of 36.

Both men gave us so much in their own way. As a fan, thank you for entertaining us. Thank you for all that you did for Pro Wrestling. Our condolences to their families. Rest in Peace, gentlemen.

We also take a trip down memory lane as we recall the 1997 outing of, Spawn (starring, Michael Jai White, John Leguizamo, and Martin Sheen). But news has come out that some executives in the Studio system have been talking about breaking the WGA. Bankruptcy, losing their homes, and generally making the remaining months of 2023 miserable until the Studio gets what they want.

That all remains to be seen as the SAG joins the WGA on the picket line and Hollywood essentially shuts down. How long will this go? Can this be resolved? What are your thoughts?

It has happened before and unfortunately is happening again. The Writers Guild of America(WGA) is at odds with the, Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers(AMPTP aka the Studio) over streaming residuals and the use of AI for writing or creating original content. The strike itself is already affecting late night talk shows, as they were the first to shut down once the vote from WGA went into affect on May 2nd.

Many other productions will also shut down or delay productions as many workers are unwilling to cross picket lines, choosing instead to side with the writers. How long will this go on is anyone's guess. The previous dispute between the WGA and AMPTP last from November of 2007 to February 2008. More as this story develops.

We live in a world with a plethora of streaming apps and services. It's nice to see one of them try to streamline themselves. HBO Max will replace HBO GO and HBO NOW at the end of July 2020. AT&T and Warner Bros. are hoping to be another serious competitor in the digital streaming business.

One of their deals will bring us a new cut of Justice League! The 2017 film will have a new life as the #SnyderCut will be an exclusive to HBO Max in 2021. Will you watch the new cut of the film?

If you are looking for something to do while most things are closed or shut down we recommend looking into a virtual reality headset. We recently picked up an, Oculus Quest headset and we have been experimenting with different games and ways to interact with others socially from the comfort of our living room.

Also, in the idea of enjoying things from home, we recently watched Rian Johnson's, Knives Out(2019). A murder mystery story told in the styling of, Agatha Christie. See if you can figure out the guilty party before the credits roll.

And last but certainly not least, we are thrilled to see the return of, Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix.

The current state of affairs in the world makes it difficult to record a show about movies, comics, and other forms of entertainment and pop culture. We try our best to relate our experiences with discrimination and how that can help us understand what is happening in the world today. And why we should have a conversation about racism if we hope to make a better tomorrow for all of us.

Then, on a lighter note, we talk about the recent release of a 90's side scrolling sequel, Streets of Rage 4!

(*Side note: It was not our intention to combine these two subjects in one show. It just worked out in a weird way.)

After a recent stay in the hospital we had some down time to watch a few different movies! Thank goodness for Netflix!

First on the short list, The Highwaymen an American period crime drama film directed by John Lee Hancock. The film stars Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson as Frank Hamer and Maney Gault, two former Texas Rangers who attempt to track down and apprehend notorious criminals Bonnie and Clyde in the 1930s.

Then we move onto, Uncut Gems an American crime thriller film directed by Josh and Benny Safdie. The film stars Adam Sandler as Howard Ratner, a Jewish jeweler and gambling addict in New York City's Diamond District, who must retrieve an expensive gem he purchased to pay off his debts.

And we also talk about, LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS an American adult animated anthology series.

Based on a graphic novel from, Ande Parks and written by Ande Parks and the Russo Bros.(Directors of many MCU movies). Directed by, Sam Hargrave. It is currently available on Netflix.

We're trying to be responsible by following the Stay At Home orders that are currently in place in NJ. What better way to enjoy time at home than to watch movies that we missed out on in 2019? I recently watched Men In Black: International starring, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. While it had its moments, it wasn't as fun as the originals.

And then we went onto, Brightburn starring Elizabeth Banks, David Denman, and Jackson Dunn. This movie presents a simple premise. What if Superman turned evil at an early age? We get into it and a whole lot more!

What do you do when you can't go to the movies? What if you could have new releases come straight home to you? That's the main dispute that's going on between AMC Theaters and Universal Pictures after the release of, Trolls World Tour for premium video on demand. Universal Pictures thought it was a good idea to release the film straight into our homes for those sheltering in place. AMC is upset that the studio bypassed the theater release. Where do you land on this dispute?

We also talk about, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Venom.

On this episode, you can expect a variety of different topics. Movies, wrestling, comics, and more! We go over season one of The Boys and give our thoughts on how the show was adapted for Amazon Prime Video.

Doug gives us a rundown of AEW's All Out 2019 PPV. Matches, highlights, and his overall opinion on the show itself.  Good time all around.

Blood drives, they're a good cause. You go and donate some blood so hospitals can help those with medical emergencies. Easy enough, right? Well, Doug tells us about his recent trip to donate and the difficulties he ran into.

From there, we drift into our mutual love of movies by talking about the Mahoning Drive-In Theater in Lehighton, PA. The Mahoning is known for running 35mm films and having themed weekends with something everyone. Godzilla-Palooza, Camp Blood, Zombiefest, Action Party Weekend, and many more!

The music industry has always been an intriguing machine. How do the artist make money when there are so many people to pay? This especially was the question even before peer to peer sharing became a thing. Now, it's streaming music. How do you divide the profits and is it really worth it for the artist?

We also talk about the DC Extended Universe! At the time this episode was recorded we speculated about who would be in the big Arrowverse Crossover, Crisis on Infinite Earths. There were a bunch of rumored cameos and characters. We also talk about canceled shows, Krypton and the spin-off, Lobo. We go over some DC movies, animated shows, and the DC Universe App!

On this episode we talk about the 50th anniversary of Woodstock and some of the stories that have come out over the years. We also talk about Woodstock 1994 and 1999 and some the personal stories tied to them. We hear about some concert stories from Hernandez and his love for KISS.

And we also talk about the passing of very important figure in the world of professional wrestling. Harley Race(aged 76), was an American professional wrestler, promoter, and trainer. Race wrestled in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), the American Wrestling Association (AWA), the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE), and World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

On this episode, we talk about deleted scenes from movies. Avengers: Endgame has a bunch of different extras and deleted scenes that fans have been pouring over and we discuss a few of those. We also mention deleted scenes from The Warriors(1979) and Empire Records(1995).

From there, the discussion somehow turns to Gun Control and the right to bear arms. We do our best to present our thoughts on the subject. But, we do not try to give any particular solution to a complex problem that has continued to trouble the country. We just have a discussion between two friends.

Happy Halloween! While this is technically our Halloween episode, it is not our main topic. We do get into the frustration of seeing Christmas decorations before the month of October has even finished. Erik talks about looking forward to taking his son out Trick or Treating. And Doug finishes his list for the 31 Nights of Horror movie list.

The conversation then turns to comedy and the difference between comedy that punches up or comedy that punches down. The tradition(often times) in comedy is to punch up, never punch down. In other words, don't attack people that are already marginalized. Although, there have been comedians that have found success with material that punches down.

We then drive the show directly into a political pothole. If you have listened to the show in the past, you will know that we are not a political-centric podcast. But we do have opinions concerning current events. We do our best to make sense of a crazy political climate.

All of this and more!

Somehow, from there we detour into a conversation about religion and the different sects that branch of from their larger counterparts. Erik gets an education about the Branch Davidians. The world of sports also gets an honorable mention in this area.

We also run down the list of horror movies Doug is watching for 31 Nights of Horror in October. A few classics are mentioned, a few oddball films, and more. Doug's love of horror brings a wide range of foreign and domestic films.

People like feeling good. For some, that means working out, eating well, and maybe the occasional protein shake. And that can lead to a few gassy moments as your body tries to figure out what to do with all that extra protein. Just be sure you're not trapped in an enclosed area soon after having one after a nice workout.

We also talk about competitiveness. Do you have what it takes to win, no matter the cost? Many sports athletes have admitted to being sore losers. The idea of "go big or go home" is often touted in many organizations and locker rooms. What does it really take to be an "Elite Athlete"?

Somehow, we go from competitive athletes to the athleticism of Professional Wrestlers. Pro Wrestling(WWE, AEW, ROH...) are all choreographed performances with predetermined outcomes. So why do we have wrestling personalities arguing over who's more competitive in the ring? We give our thoughts on this and much more!

The current trend in Hollywood is to find material that they can turn into movie franchises. Marvel and DC comics have been fertile ground for years. Marvel in particular has been fortunate enough to have the Marvel Cinematic Universe work so well.

Which brings us to part of our conversation, interpretations. The Marvel characters on the "big screen" are not necessarily faithful interpretations of the characters from the comic book pages. Some liberties are taken to change or update some characters or storylines. Some work. While others might lose sight of the original subject material.

From there we talk about the Hollywood studio system and what it sometimes takes to make a movie or a movie franchise. The Writer's Room, finding a good Director, assembling a good cast, etc. The list could go on and on.

A few twists and turns, awards ceremonies, a quick political rant, and a non-commerical for a shaving company round out this episode.

1994 saw the release of The Crow, starring Brandon Lee. The movie itself is a cult classic. Action, drama, romance, and revenge over the loss of love set to a soundtrack of rock and roll, metal, and electronic music.

On this episode we start with a discussion of this soundtrack and how it influenced us. We also reference an article that gave us some more insight into an album and movie that is 25 years old this year. Original songs, covers of older songs, songs being swapped out... we take a look at different aspects of how it all came together.

We also talk about the music industry and how it used to operate. Music rights, contracts, and how some artists can end up penniless after years of performing and touring.

And last but certainly not least, we talk about the recent cancellation announcements from Netflix regarding their string of Marvel shows on the streaming service. The cancellation announcement was followed by an open letter from Jeph Loeb(the current Executive Vice President of Marvel Television) teasing the possible continuation of the shows on another platform.

All of this and much more!

If you are a long time listener of the show, this episode might be just for you. We return to the world of Professional Wrestling as we talk about a number of different topics.

First, we learn what #TerryTuesday is and realize we have been missing out on catching up with Terry Funk and all his escapades. We are big time fans of the "Funkster" and get a kick out of telling his tales to anyone that will listen.

Continuing the wrestling talk, Hernandez reveals that he's been invited to a reunion show! The old locker room comes calling and they want the "Indian Warrior/Big Chief" to be part of the festivities. Did someone mention a Battle Royal?

From there we go down memory lane with a few different stories about being on the road and hanging out in the locker room. Stiff shots, getting busted open, and locker room diplomacy. All of this and more!

It's always a fun time when we get to catch up with old friends! Jimmy, is back in studio with us while he is in town for a visit. We get to find out just what the hell happened to our favorite conversation derailer. He fills us in on some of his adventures from overseas and what it's been like for him to settle into a different country while taking care of some family business.

Angry movie reviews, fast food stories, and Jimmy is a teacher? All of this and more in this episode!

There's a new game in town. All Elite Wrestling, a new Professional Wrestling promotion created by Cody Rhodes, Matt and Nick Jackson(The Young Bucks). Along with the father and son duo of Shahid and Tony Khan(The Khans are billionaires and part of the ownership group of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham F.C.).

Can AEW compete in a world with the WWE, Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling, and many others? Their first unofficial outing in the form of 2018's ALL IN PPV is notable for being the first non-WWE or World Championship Wrestling promoted professional wrestling event in the United States to sell 10,000 tickets since 1993.

But the question remains. Do we need another wrestling company?

We're back! To be more specific, we've been back in studio for the past few weeks, this episode and the next few are a little delayed but we're getting them out there.

On our return show we talk about New Year Resolutions. Are you one of those people that feel the need to "start anew" each year? We share our thoughts on the "New Year, New Me" mentality.

Speaking of new, we talk about a few new shows that have come out. In particular, Dwayne Johnson's Titan Games on NBC. It's no secret that we love competitive shows with obstacles and crazy challenges. The Titan Games echoes the old American Gladiator shows from years ago.

Also, we do a quick round up of people that passed away recently. We do our best to pay our respects to people who have left a body of work.

And finally, we do a quick look at the various movies that are coming out in 2019!

And here we have it, the final episode of 2018! We realize this is coming out much later than anticipated but we didn't want to skip this fun episode. (This episode was recorded before our holiday break.)

As mentioned in the show intro, this is not a "year end" show. We don't do a 2018 wrap up. We get together and talk about an array of different topics: Gun laws in NJ, family relationships, the tourist scene in Atlantic City and Asbury Park, and more.

Just as this show is posted we are already hard at work on new episodes for 2019! We appreciated the emails asking for this episode. As always we hope you enjoy the show.

Happy new year!! We hope everyone is enjoying a fresh start in 2019 but before we can fully enter the new year, we have a couple of shows to close out our 2018 run.

On this episode, we have a nice conversational piece as we get into the current culture wars, diet soda, stories about Grandparents, the passing of George H.W. Bush, and the interpretation of art in films and music.

It's a crazy ride, but we do our best to navigate you through the madness.

Stan Lee(aged 95), born Stanley Martin Lieber was an American comic book writer, editor, and publisher who was active from the 1940s to the 2010s. He rose through the ranks of a family-run business to become Marvel Comics' primary creative leader for two decades, leading its expansion from a small division of a publishing house to a multimedia corporation that dominated the comics industry.

In collaboration with others at Marvel—particularly co-writer/artists Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko—he co-created numerous popular fictional characters, including superheroes Spider-Man, the X-Men, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Black Panther, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch and Ant-Man. In doing so, he pioneered a more naturalistic approach to writing superhero comics in the 1960s, and in the 1970s he challenged the restrictions of the Comics Code Authority, indirectly leading to changes in its policies. In the 1980s he pursued development of Marvel properties in other media, with mixed results. Following his retirement from Marvel in the 1990s, he remained a public figurehead for the company, and frequently made cameo appearances in films based on Marvel characters, on which he received an honorary "executive producer" credit.

This is our take on Stan "The Man" Lee as we bid a fond farewell to someone who gave the world so much through his work and collaborations.

Halloween has come and gone. But that doesn't mean we can't have a little more fun talking about scary movies and the horror genre. But first, let us remember someone who worked in horror films that recently passed away.

James Karen(aged 94), was an American character actor of Broadway, film and television. Karen was best known for his roles in Poltergeist, The Return of the Living Dead, Invaders from Mars, and in The Pursuit of Happyness.

He appeared in commercials for Pathmark which earned his nickname "Mr. Pathmark". He was nominated for a Saturn Award for his 1985 role in The Return of the Living Dead.

We also talk about the recent release of Halloween(2018 film), starring Jamie Lee Curtis, and its success at the box office. Beware, there are SPOILERS ahead as we talk about the history of the film franchise and the ending of the current film.

We also talk about other horror icons, franchises, and current film and TV projects.

Recently, it was announced that WWE Superstar, Roman Reigns(real name, Leati Joseph Anoaʻi) has been diagnosed with leukemia. Previous to this announcement, the cancer had been in remission for about eleven years. Reigns appeared on an episode of Monday Night RAW to relinquish his WWE Universal Title.

We hope that Roman Reigns can overcome his illness and return to in-ring action soon.

We talk about WWE's upcoming shows, Evolution and Crown Jewel. Evolution will be the first ever all women WWE PPV(by the time this episode posted, this show will have already taken place). And Crown Jewel, a PPV that has already been mired with bad press due to the current political state of relations between Saudi Arabi and the USA.

We also bid farewell to another veteran of the wrestling world. Richard Van Slater(aged 67), better known by his ring name "Dirty" Dick Slater, was an American professional wrestler who wrestled in the 1970s, 1980s, and mid-1990s for various promotions including Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and World Championship Wrestling (WCW).

And last but certainly not least, we talk about the recent news of a new Friday the 13th film being made by a studio with ties to, Lebron James? And Doug gives us the rundown on the new Halloween movie currently out in theaters and breaking box office records of horror films in the month of October.

In a change of pace we decided to try our hand at recording a commentary track for one of our favorite movies. The subject of this commentary recently hit its 20th anniversary mark and could be considered the starting point for modern Marvel movies.

Blade(1998), starring Wesley Snipes, Stephen Dorff, Kris Kristofferson, and N'Bushe Wright.

A half-vampire, half-mortal man becomes a protector of the mortal race, while slaying evil vampires.

We hope you enjoy the commentary.

Have you ever had a movie that you held off on watching? Maybe you missed it in the theaters? You thought, I'll wait for it to come out on DVD. Doug recently watched the Tim Burton classic, Ed Wood. While Hernandez was baffled by Arnold Schwarzenegger's Sci-Fi/Action adventure, The 6th Day

From there the discussion turns to movies, again.

We also say goodbye to a great character actor who appeared in numerous film and TV projects.

Scott Wilson(aged 76), was an American actor. He had more than 50 film credits, including In the Heat of the Night, In Cold Blood, The Great Gatsby, Dead Man Walking, Pearl Harbor, and Junebug. He played veterinarian Hershel Greene on the AMC television series The Walking Dead from 2011 to 2014.

And we're not done yet. We also talk about the recent news of former Guardians of the Galaxy Director, James Gunn making the move over to DC and Warner Bros. Pictures to write and possibly Direct the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel.

And then, we talk about the recent UFC battle between, Conner McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov. We talk about the highlights of the bout and the chaos that occurred after one of the most anticipated MMA fights in recent history.

Rain! Recently we got a lot of it. In fact, two major storms ran past our area. While we didn't get hit directly, we did get hit with some flooding. Thankfully we didn't get hit that bad, but some of our friends dealt with a nightmare before a special occasion.

The main topic of discussion on this episode is the recent casting news about Superman and Batman! DC/Warner Bros. seem to be reconsidering changing out actors as they move forward with the DC Extended Universe(DCEU). What does this mean for Henry Cavill, who recently posted a video in response to the news. What about Ben Affleck, who recently entered rehab due to a drinking problem?

And of course, since we're talking about comic book characters and movies, we also include some discussions about Marvel characters and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We talk about some fan theories regarding Infinity War and the follow up Avengers film.

Gary Friedrich(aged 75), was an American comic book writer best known for his Silver Age stories for Marvel Comics' Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos, and, in the following era, for the series The Monster of Frankenstein and for co-creating the supernatural motorcyclist the Ghost Rider and the supernatural hero the Son of Satan.

Burt Reynolds(aged 86), was an American actor, director and producer. He first rose to prominence starring in television series such as Gunsmoke, Hawk, and Dan August.

His breakout film role was as Lewis Medlock in Deliverance. Reynolds played the leading role in a number of subsequent box office hits, such as The Longest Yard, Smokey and the Bandit, Semi-Tough, Hooper, Smokey and the Bandit II, The Cannonball Run and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

What about when you're relaxing at home and you hear a knock at the door? You open the door before seeing who it is and you're ambushed by someone trying to give you a pamphlet about their religion. Do you talk to them? Do you close the door?

In this day in age, it's sad to say that, shootings have become quite frequent in the USA. Shopping malls, schools, concerts, churches, etc. At a recent Electronics Arts(EA) Sports sponsored Madden tournament in Jacksonville, Florida one of the tournament participants opened fire killing two and injuring another ten before committing suicide. News outlets were quick to turn the shooting in a political topic as gun laws were once again put under the microscope.

EA Sports released a statement saying their "most heartfelt sympathies" went out to the families of the victims and those who were injured and that their focus was on those affected and aiding law enforcement. The publisher would later cancel the three remaining Madden Classic qualifier tournaments in order to reevaluate safety protocols for future live events.

Our conversation also includes talk about MMA and Pro Wrestling(WWE to be more specific). PED use, painkillers vs marijuana use, and some wrestling stories.
