The Rabblecast

(Original recording date: 12/5/2017)

At the time that we recorded this episode, there were talks of Disney and Fox Studios negotiating a buyout. Which led to a bunch of speculation as to what they could mean for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel would regain the film rights to the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties as well as a bunch of other intellectual properties owned by Fox(Simpsons, Futurama, X-Files, etc.)

The debate that popped up in a lot of different places was the fate of R rated movies(Logan and Deadpool), and if Disney would allow them to continue under their banner. We get into this and much more as we discuss the topic on this episode.

We also have a new entry into the "Horrible Events in History" file as Doug tells about the Halifax Explosion from 1917.

Marvel's The Punisher is back with a new series on Netflix. Jon Bernthal brings us the latest iteration of the popular anti-hero. Netflix and Marvel have had a successful relationship thus far when it comes to the various "street level" characters(let's skip over Iron Fist for now). Can they continue the trend?

We delve into the series itself, some of the history of the comic book character, and the previous films. Welcome back, Frank.
