The Rabblecast

Let's keep this going! Here is the second of six episodes, recorded earlier this year, that had to be delayed due to time constraints. We're hoping to clear out the back log before the end of the year.

On this episode, we talk about deleted scenes from movies. Avengers: Endgame has a bunch of different extras and deleted scenes that fans have been pouring over and we discuss a few of those. We also mention deleted scenes from The Warriors(1979) and Empire Records(1995).

From there, the discussion somehow turns to Gun Control and the right to bear arms. We do our best to present our thoughts on the subject. But, we do not try to give any particular solution to a complex problem that has continued to trouble the country. We just have a discussion between two friends.

Here it is! We promised that there were more episodes waiting to be released. This is the first of six episodes, recorded earlier this year, that had to be delayed due to time constraints.

On this episode we talk about some news that came out of San Diego Comic Con 2019(albeit, older news at this point). We also discuss some Transformers toys announcements.  And it wouldn't be complete without some talk about streaming services, Netflix and Disney+ specifically.

We talk about the passing of Rutger Hauer(aged 75), who was a Dutch actor, writer, and environmentalist.

After a little over seven years on The Rabblecast, we bid a fond farewell to on of the hosts of the show. Doug, who bravely filled the then vacant hosting spot, will be leaving the show. With that in mind we go back to familiar territory for this episode's conversation. Professional wrestling! The past, the present, and where it is going.

And trust us, there's a whole lot more in this episode.

Happy Halloween! While this is technically our Halloween episode, it is not our main topic. We do get into the frustration of seeing Christmas decorations before the month of October has even finished. Erik talks about looking forward to taking his son out Trick or Treating. And Doug finishes his list for the 31 Nights of Horror movie list.

The conversation then turns to comedy and the difference between comedy that punches up or comedy that punches down. The tradition(often times) in comedy is to punch up, never punch down. In other words, don't attack people that are already marginalized. Although, there have been comedians that have found success with material that punches down.

We then drive the show directly into a political pothole. If you have listened to the show in the past, you will know that we are not a political-centric podcast. But we do have opinions concerning current events. We do our best to make sense of a crazy political climate.

All of this and more!

In this episode, we get a surprising origin story of, Kellogg's Corn Flakes? We find out how the breakfast cereal was created from a mistake and how it was used originally in a sanitarium to keep the patients subdued.

Somehow, from there we detour into a conversation about religion and the different sects that branch of from their larger counterparts. Erik gets an education about the Branch Davidians. The world of sports also gets an honorable mention in this area.

We also run down the list of horror movies Doug is watching for 31 Nights of Horror in October. A few classics are mentioned, a few oddball films, and more. Doug's love of horror brings a wide range of foreign and domestic films.

All of this and more!

In the past, we have talked about Doug's love/hate relationship with big cities. With that in mind he wanted to knock a few life experiences off of his list before leaving NJ in the near future. Listen in and find out what happened on Doug's walkabout.

We also talk about the recent release of, Joker. Starring, Joaquin Phoenix and directed by Todd Phillips. The one-off film tells the tale of a possible origin for one of DC Comics' greatest villains using New York City as the stand-in for Gotham City.

All of this and much more!

People like feeling good. For some, that means working out, eating well, and maybe the occasional protein shake. And that can lead to a few gassy moments as your body tries to figure out what to do with all that extra protein. Just be sure you're not trapped in an enclosed area soon after having one after a nice workout.

We also talk about competitiveness. Do you have what it takes to win, no matter the cost? Many sports athletes have admitted to being sore losers. The idea of "go big or go home" is often touted in many organizations and locker rooms. What does it really take to be an "Elite Athlete"?

Somehow, we go from competitive athletes to the athleticism of Professional Wrestlers. Pro Wrestling(WWE, AEW, ROH...) are all choreographed performances with predetermined outcomes. So why do we have wrestling personalities arguing over who's more competitive in the ring? We give our thoughts on this and much more!

On this episode, we find out what happens when you leave a door unlocked and you need to call a friend to check on your home. We talk about a new documentary, Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street. The documentary follows Mark Patton's life after starring in the second Nightmare on Elm Street movie.

We also talk about the passing of Sid Haig(aged 80). Haig, was an American actor, film producer, and musician. He is known for his roles in several of Jack Hill's blaxploitation films from the 1970s, as well as for his appearances in horror films, most notably his role as Captain Spaulding in the Rob Zombie films House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects and 3 from Hell.

Before we resume posting of our backlog of episodes we thought we'd continue with some of the more recent content. In our last episode we announced that Doug will be leaving the show in the near future(no date has been given as of this posting), so we thought a continuation of his adventures would be in order.

In this episode we learn the importance of maintenance in various different forms. Try as we might, everything can use a little love and care before breaking down into a heap useless parts(automotive or otherwise).

As we continue to empty out the back log of episodes, we thought it prudent to skip ahead a couple episodes to give everyone an update on what's been going. We will release the other episodes, don't worry about that. This episode in particular has some important  updates that we wanted to share with everyone.

As to what those updates are, we'll let the episode speak for itself. If you have been wondering where we've been? You will find the answers within(Hey that rhymed). Jump on in and enjoy the show!
